Food Forests Workshop
Forests have supplied food for humans for millennia.
If we target better nutrition, not just more food, the importance of forests comes into focus.
Workshop
Food Forests in Aotearoa
Exploring a future research programme
3rd & 4th April
Lincoln University, Christchurch
Tena koutou practitioners & researchers
Scion and Lincoln University invites you to participate in a Workshop on Food Forests in Aotearoa (NZ). We are a cohort of researchers who hypothesise that the resilience of NZ can be enhanced by designing & managing forests for the provision of quality nutrition for the communities & people who need it.
At this workshop we want to explore the idea of Food Forests transforming the local food & forest systems in NZ. We look forward to diving deeper into this idea to unpack the logic, impacts & key research questions. Importantly we seek radical collaboration across sectors & disciplines, to identify a coalition of willing stakeholders & research collaborators who want to be part of a bid for a compelling research programme on Food Forests.
The workshop will be held at Lincoln University, Christchurch over two days. Day one is whanaungatanga (getting to know each other), participants will present their views on Food Forests, & we will explore aspirations. Day two enables us to unpack key themes (such as benefits, science excellence, who, & transformation) that are important in a good research proposal.
Refreshments & lunch will be provided, & we hope that you or someone from your organisation is able to join us. Please RSVP to this invite by 15th March 2023. Further information will be sent out to participants thereafter.
